Let us ignore some of my typos as I was on my phone during this debacle. I type faster than my mind can think sometimes, especially in the heat of a political related debate.
Anyway this was posted by one of my Facebook friends. Their name is completely blocked out. There are two other individuals participating. I left the first letter of their names visible to indicate a different speaker. And I am, of course, fully exposed.
It is pretty self explanatory but I will give you some context: This person is a conservative, I am a more liberal individual more with a "I really don't give a fuck what anyone believes" attitude. So I basically just don't get involved in political related posts often. But this almost seemed too easy to argue to pass up, and we all know that if I know I am right about something...I will argue it.
Anyway the link she posted can be found: HERE.
Anyway, I am really not one to vomit my personal views on a touchy subject all over facebook. Because I don't particularly like that "you either agree with me or you're an asshole" argument that can cause. It is kind of stupid and pointless. And of course not everyone is going to agree with you, stop being so self righteous. But I am just going to say this: Regardless of Limbaugh's views and the views of his listeners. I will tell you, calling a college co-ed and implying that all female college co-eds are "sluts" and devoting 3 episodes to this message isn't going to win you any favors. I am going to bet that most of the listeners of Limbaugh's show, whether they agree with him on birth control or not, were probably put off by the vulgarity he displayed to this poor girl.
Advertisers pulled away because that is a negative view and they don't want to be attached to that. They don't want the threat of a boycott or to have negative feelings attached to their products.
This is like when Geico dropped D.C. Douglas, their voice actor, in June of 2010 for insulting FreedomWorks, a Tea Party company.
Or when Aflac dropped Gilbert Gottfried for making a vaguely racist and horrible remark via Twitter about the Japanese earthquakes.
Companies like AOL, want to protect themselves. Regardless of where or when something was said. Or by whom even. If something makes this much of a stir then companies are going to act to protect profits and their own image. No one wants to be known as that commercial that plays on the channel with that "fat, angry, misogynistic bastard." Or that company with the duck who is a insensitive dick. Or that commercial with the guy who "doesn't like America/Freedom."
I mean, come on, we're all intelligent here. Lets use some common sense and our search engines. I am pretty sure this has happened way more times than the two I just pulled off the top of my head.
