I very rarely make political centered posts on blogs or even on facebook for that matter. But, it is getting close to election time. So I figured, "What the hell, why not?"
A friend posted this video and it popped up on my news feed. I'm not huge on republicans, in fact, since I was able to vote I've usually voted straight democrat. Not mindlessly, mind you, but because I agreed (for the most part) with their ideals.
I think Ron Paul makes some sound calls in his responses during this Iowa debate. Something that I appreciate from a republican canidate. I especially appreciate his consistancy. Which you have trouble finding in most political canidates. (Since the begining of presidents in the US - excluding Washington)
While I can agree to a point with his "government forcing argument," I think he's approaching it from the wrong angle. Government's job is not just to sit there and make laws/enforce them. It is also there to set a standard to ensure the wellbeing of the people it governs. I believe the question was alluding to health habits of a population. Instead of answering the question fully he talked about how government should not "force," something on to people.
What I would have liked to hear him say was something a long the line of, "It is government's job to set a standard. But not to force that standard on to people that choose not to follow it." One of the biggest issues for me besides marriage rights is this healthy living issue. Our poor obese country is taught in school "how to eat," but during our school lunches we're told to eat the opposite. Unless you bring in food separately.
I always thought that was kind of backwards of us. I guess if it gets down to Ron Paul Vs Barack Obama I will have to really think about my choice. I think they're the only two politicians likely to become president in 2012 that deserve presidency. I mean you could vote for someone who makes sense or you could vote for Santorum who said:
“If hunger is a problem in America,
then why do we have an obesity problem
among the people who we say have a hunger program?”

Makes me worried about the human race in general.
Someone said something a long the lines of: Ron Paul's people rigged this video that is why there are so many likes, so many dislikes, and only a few views in comparison.
As if a youtube glitch is something absolutely foreign to them. I get them on videos all the time. It really isn't a big deal.
Another called all Americans "loud and stupid, like their presidents." (In a really loud and stupid way.)
Makes me wonder if people notice how hypocritical they're being when trying to boost their own national identity?
